Black Kite
Scientific Name : Milvus Migrans
Family : Accipitrides.Order : Accipitriformes. It is a bird of prey.
Description : Its
height is 55 to 60 cm. Its wingspan is 160 to 180 cm.
The weight is 650 to 950 g.
Dark brown back, tawny stomach with black stripes, the head is whitish with
black stripes.
It appears to be black in the daylight, but it is actually quite brown in colour.
Diet: It is a carrion, eating mainly dead animals: fish (24 - 40%), birds (114- 40%) and reptiles (rarely 6%).
Habitat: It lives in regions of sloping woodland, areas around marshes, lakes, ponds and rivers.
Migration :The Black Kite migrates from Europe at the end of August for Africa.
Nest : The nest is made of branches, rags and rubbish.
Reproduction : It reproduces from March to June.
Lifespan : It can live 25 years.

Its cry is rather high pitched.
